Founders Brewing

Who? Founders is one of the – well – founders of craft beer in the United States. They have grown from a small brewery to quite a company, but they continue to make beers that are considered to be the absolute heritage of American craft.

Why us? Our collaboration with Founders was the product of a chance encounter followed by good conversation. We seized the opportunity with both hands to work with a pioneer in American craft beer that still makes top-shelf products.

Kristof’s favorite beer: “KBS or Kentucky Breakfast Stout, a 12% imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels. You see that beer a little more often on shelves these days (mostly thanks to us), but it is still very special. One of the founding fathers of the barrel-aged stout as we know it today. It also matures beautifully in the cellar, which is why we offer KBS in different vintages.”

Joos’ favorite beer: “Curmudgeon’s Better Half, an old ale on bourbon barrels at 12.7%. What those guys are really good at is maturing beer on bourbon barrels. You get the alcohol and the flavor of the bourbon, but the beer comes through very nicely still.”
